In case you have completely been living under a rock it should be no surprise to you that kitchen shelving is having a major moment in the kitchen. The trend has been around for a long time and I don’t anticipate it going anywhere soon – except for in my kitchen that is. I finally had a productive weekend (well Sunday) this last weekend and crossed a few items off of my list so I am slowly getting around to finishing up my kitchen. At the top of my list is to add some shelving above my sink where I can store the essentials and pretty pieces and free up some cabinet space for the not so beautiful items (IE boxed sugary cereals, pasta that has a shelf life of 100 years since I never make it, and of course my collection of potato chips and cheez-its. So, in my quest to beautify my apartment life and hide all the garbage food I shove in my mouth I pulled together a few of my favorite inspiration images that are slaying the open shelving trend.
The shelves at this place are pretty full and look completely functional – I am into it. Also very much into the expansive counter space this place is equipped with.
I imagine if I baked and served all my guests sweet little peach cobblers with ice cream this is what my shelves would look like. Not quite sure why you need so many teeny tiny bowls but I hope this family of small miniature people is enjoying the small bowls they have 100 of.
Look how happy she is that she has open shelving! I want to be as happy as she is. She’s so happy she even knocked over a tower of building blocks that she styled on her stunning Sarrenin table all whilst drinking her togo cup of coffee and not spilling a drop.
Organic, Modern, and clean. I am very into this mix of materials.
Ya…. right… in my dreams. Moving on.
Pretty sure the mad hatter lives here but he seems pretty legit so I will for sure be over for a cup of tea very soon.
One single shelf around the perimeter of this U-shaped kitchen – Genius.
Not sure I would ever have enough friends to facilitate the use of this many plates, but it looks beautiful none the less.
YES. YES. YES. I am already picturing myself doing dishes here – and I wouldn’t even hate it.
So, are you into the open shelving trend as much as I am or do you think you would clutter them up and they would look like unorganized garbage within a week? Here is to hoping those shelves go up soon and I can update you with how it is actually looking. xx
