Remember when Renee Zellweger disappeared from the silver screen for a few years and then all the sudden stomped her sweet little Roxy Heart feet onto the red carpet with a BRAND. NEW. FACE. and the nation wasn’t quite sure what had happened or how we felt about it. Well so is the case with Jenna Lyons’ (of J Crew fame) stunning townhome that everyone fell in love with after it graced the pages of Domino. It is back in the limelight and with a whole new look. But, before you lose your marbles – It is not that bad! The new owners gave it a completely different look with the help of Roman and Williams to make it their own, and rightly so. So, let’s take a look at the During-Jenna and Post-Jenna and break it down.
Don’t get me wrong, the first is stunning. It is warm, traditional, moody and has character and charm galore. But I definitely prefer Jenna’s version what with those subtle grey walls, mustard velvet english roll arm, and moroccan rug. Jenna, 1 – New Owners, 0
Sorry Jenna, I gotta give it to the new homeowners on this one. I may not be a fan of the charlie and the chocolate factory colored cabinets they went with but I love how they moved the location of the sink, covered up the air ducting, and brought some major character into the space. This one is hard because they completely changed the function of the room. But if we are just going off of style then Jenna takes the win for me as ANYONE would dream of having that closet and those horns above her fireplace inspired me to place a pair of my own in my apartment. Again a difficult decision and these garbage real estate photos are not doing the competition any favors. But – I do remember this taxidermy wall, that perfect chandelier and the old farmhouse table from the Domino spread and I have always love them so Jenna’s gets the win again on this one. Although that Chinoiserie wallpaper is AMAZE, hands down goes to Jenna. She inspired the black bedroom trend and she was using Mouille on her ceiling before every blogger was using the same knock off fixture in every project. Kuddos Jenna for being an original. Jenna, 4 – New Owner, 1
For sure some extra points for the beautiful styling that the new owners did, but I still love the simplicity and minimalism of Jenna’s bathroom. And once again major kudos to her for using and slaying the concrete trend far before everyone else was. I am just not sure how I would feel about taking a shadoobie with no privacy and absolutely no door. But, if I lived in that townhouse that would be one sacrifice I would be willing to make. Jenna, 5 – New Owner, 1.
So, with the totals tallied Jenna is the obvious winner, but I can definitely still get on board with the style, renovations, and design that the new owners went with.
