It has been a long week and we aren’t even to Friday yet…. not to mention I am on day 4 of being under the weather and completely congested, so it hasn’t been my best of weeks – obviously. ‘WOE.IS.ME’ I know. And although I have two tissues stuffed up my nose right now I am trying to put on a happy face and think positive by focusing on brighter, happier, more open, and much more comfortable spaces to be in rather than stuffed up on the couch to keep me going through these last few days until I can kick whatever I have managed to harbor in my nasal cavity for the last week. Hence the inspiration for this post.
I’ve got a big shoot for my bedroom coming up in the next few weeks and I have been doing a lot of pinning, researching, and googling to get some inspiration for said shoot as well as grabbing a few last minute accessories. I recently talked about a few things that every boutique hotel has that a home needs, and although I stand by those things, for my bedroom, I am thinking much more minimal, much more refined and much more edited approach.
Nothing too fancy, nothing too bold, and nothing too glam. Just a simple space to relax at the end of the day. So that even if I can’t control the climate of the ever-changing weather LA has to offer at least have a spot I can curl up into on my bed and relax from this terrible heat wave rather than pit-out on my couch like I am currently doing. There is something to say about the built environment and how the environments we can create can instantly take us to a better place mentally. OK, I am done playing Dr. Phil. As you can see I have spent one too many nights browsing pointless articles on FB while waiting for the NyQuil to kick in.
Back to the inspiration. Gray, white, black, gold and woods – my favorite combo if you haven’t noticed already. Those sheets look pretty inviting not to mention those little headrests I could slobber on as I watch the newest episode of Girlboss (which by the way you should watch if you haven’t already – it is pretty good and very inspiring for anyone looking to get their feet on the ground in an industry they are passionate about). Speaking of sheets, I am convinced that you sleep better in white sheets. I am also convinced that is not a fact and that there is no actual proof to confirm my belief but I do enjoy sleeping in crisp white sheets more than anything. So although places like BedSheetAdvisor may have something to say as far as what are the best sheets to nuzzle into at the end of the night. My opinion is – if they are white, clean and crisp then you will zzzzz much better than you would elsewhere.
And we all know how much a love a good gallery wall, or a selection of art (check out my kitchen if this is new to you), so I am sure there will be quite a bit of art in some form or fashion in the bedroom.
Pretty sure my room would never stay this clean, nor my mirror for that matter, but it is giving me some major bedroom vibes and I am into it.
And just in case you wanted to see a few of the items I have been fawning over for my bedroom here is a little place to check them all out:
