When we think of beauty in the home, few of us think of bathrooms. And there’s no getting around the fact that a beautiful bathroom seems an oxymoron of sorts due to the fact that 1) we often don’t have a lot of space to make our bathrooms beautiful, 2) pinterest gives us extremely unrealistic expectations and 3) you do your “business” in your bathroom. But, your bathroom is more important than you think, and so is its appearance. After all, we all deserve to enjoy every aspect of our homes (including those “utilitarian” rooms).
As far as I am concerned your bathroom should be an extension of your home, and it should have just as much class, elegance, and charm to it, even if what you are doing in there lack all of the aforementioned aspects. I digress, but let’s take a closer look at some black and white bathroom inspiration that are sure to give you bathroom envy (and make you wish you had a lot more space to do your business in).
Patterened tile is definitely having a moment right now and although it is VERY saturated all over the home space, if it is done right and in the right amounts I am still very into it and the impact that it can have on a room.
If pattern isn’t your thing then bring in some interest through texture like they did in this bathroom. Although the room is completely neutral it doesn’t feel boring what with the layered textiles, shades of white, and warmth and life brought in through the plants and wood.
Brass, Black and White will never get old.
Case in point on this one. I. NEED. THAT. MARBLE. SINK.
One day I will have huge steel framed windows in my house, but until then I am living vicariously through these above and below.
And although those steel framed glass shower doors look stunning I am sure they are an absolute beast to clean, so if you plan on soaping up, spilling all over the doors and then not caring about it, you might want to rethink the steel framed option or figure out how to clean shower screens in your bathroom so that your place doesn’t look perpetually fogged with soap scum. Talk about potty shame.
This infamous bathroom (below) is where Naomi Watts probably learned her lines for one of the MANY rolls she killed in last year. And ya, if I had a bathroom this chic I might be able to act the shit out off having half my boob ripped off by a tsunami like she did in “the impossible”
Or if ornate and graphic isn’t your jam then you can go simple and refined.
Not sure where either of these people house any of the actual things that one would need in a bathroom, but regardless I am into the simplicity of both spaces.
This guy has been on my pin board for as long as I can remember and although some elements are a bit theatrical (silk hung lanterns, chain hung mirrors, chinoiserie cabinet turned vanity) I am still very into the black, white, copper, combo. It’s a little Miss Siagon meets Phantom of the Opera in all the right ways. I can just imagine Christine crawling over this vanity into the mirror as Kim yells at Tam for splashing water all over the floor.
And if copper sinks and broadway analogies aren’t quite enough for you then you could always do the copper version of those sinks in tub form and go full baller, which I highly agree with.
So whether you are over the top, simple, refined, gody, need some bathroom inspo, or were just curious where Namoi Watts washes her Oscars (oh wait, she hasn’t one yet, which is a true tragedy) – black and white is a color scheme that always seems to work and always seems to stay in style.
